A self-propelled folding wheelchair for adults, with a 20-inch seat. The large rear wheels have hand rims, so the person in the chair can push themselves along, and the push handles have comfort grips for a companion. The steel frame has a hammertone finish, the seat and back are breathable black nylon, and it holds up to 300 lb.

What it does

  • Swing-back, desk-length arms: each padded arm flips up and back on a hinge at the rear, clearing that side of the seat for a sideways transfer from a bed, a chair or a car seat. The arms are shorter at the front, so the chair rolls in closer to a desk or table.
  • Adjustable, swing-away footrests: they swing out to the side so you can step in and out without tangling your feet, and they lift off the frame.
  • Folds to 11.5 in. wide: lift the seat up from the middle and the two sides come together. It folds for transport or storage in a car trunk or a closet; measure the space first.
  • Solid tires: smooth-rolling and flat-free, with nothing to inflate.

In the box

The wheelchair and its two swing-away footrests.

Before you order

Open, the chair is 26.5 in. wide, so check the narrowest doorway or hallway it has to pass through; folded, it is 11.5 in. wide, so measure the car trunk or closet it will go in. Measuring the person's hips (across, seated) and thigh length helps confirm the 20 × 16 in. seat, and a physical or occupational therapist can help choose a wheelchair for daily use. Do not exceed the 300 lb weight capacity.

Folding wheelchair · 20-inch seat

Ready to roll,
ready to fold.

A self-propelled folding wheelchair for adults. Six short chapters: how it works, getting in and out, folding, moving around, the measurements, and what to check before you order.

01 / 06 · How it works

Roll, swing, fold

Four steps through the chair, drawn from the front: the chair and its seat, the arms, the footrests, then the fold.

  1. 1

    Push yourself, or be pushed

Hand rims on the two large rear wheels let the person in the chair push themselves along; two push handles with comfort grips let a companion push. The frame is steel with a hammertone finish, the seat and back are breathable black nylon, and the 20 in. seat sits 18.5 in. from the floor. It holds up to 300 lb.

Pushing along with the hand rims.
  2. 2

    The arms swing back

Each padded arm swings up and back on a hinge at the rear. That clears its side of the seat, which makes a sideways transfer easier: sliding across from a bed, a chair or a car seat. The arms are desk-length, shorter at the front, so the chair rolls in closer to a desk or table.

  3. 3

    The footrests swing away

The two adjustable footrests swing out to the sides, so you can step in and out of the chair without tangling your feet. Each one also lifts off the frame.

  4. 4

    It folds to 11.5 in.

Lift the seat up from the middle and the two sides come together: 26.5 in. wide open, 11.5 in. wide folded. The height and the length stay the same, and it goes into a car trunk or a closet.

Steel, nylon, solid tires

A steel frame in a speckled, dark-gray hammertone finish; a black nylon seat and back; padded armrests; smooth-rolling solid tires with nothing to inflate.

02 / 06 · Getting in and out

Clear the side, free the feet

Two parts move out of the way when you get in or out of the chair: an arm, and the footrests.

  1. 01

    Swing-back arms

Each arm swings up and back on its rear hinge and clears that side of the seat for a sideways transfer from a bed, a chair or a car seat.

  2. 02

    Desk-length

The armrest is shorter at the front, so the chair rolls in closer to a desk or a table.

  3. 03

    Swing-away footrests

Both swing out to the side, so feet do not tangle on the way in or out, and both lift off the frame. They are adjustable.

Back in place

Swing the footrests back in, lower the arm, and the chair is ready to roll. The short front of each arm still lets it pull in close to a desk or a dining table.

03 / 06 · Folding

Lift the seat, the sides meet

From 26.5 in. wide to 11.5 in.

Lifting the seat folds it, and the width drops from 26.5 in. to 11.5 in.

  1. Lift

Take hold of the seat in the middle and lift it up.

  2. Close

The two sides come together until the chair is 11.5 in. wide.

  3. Stow

It keeps its 36.5 in. height and 32.5 in. length and goes into a car trunk or a closet.

04 / 06 · On the move

Hand rims, handles, solid tires

The open chair, from the front.

The chair moves by the hands of the person in it, or of a companion behind it.

  1. 01

    Hand rims

On both large rear wheels, so the person seated can push themselves along.

  2. 02

    Push handles

Two, with comfort hand grips, for a companion who pushes.

  3. 03

    Solid tires

Smooth-rolling and flat-free: there is nothing to inflate.

A good match if

  • You want to push yourself, with handles for a companion when needed
  • You move in and out of the chair from the side: a bed, a chair, a car seat
  • You want to roll up close to a desk or a table
  • It has to fold into a car trunk or a closet

Probably not for you if

  • The person using it weighs more than 300 lb — that is the weight limit
  • You need a seat narrower or wider than 20 in.
  • A doorway on the daily route is narrower than the 26.5 in. open width

Before you ask

Can I push myself in it?

Yes. Both large rear wheels have hand rims for the person in the chair, and the two push handles with comfort grips are there for a companion.

Will it fit through my doors?

Open, it is 26.5 in. wide. Measure the narrowest doorway or hallway it has to pass through before you order.

How small does it fold?

To 11.5 in. wide. The height (36.5 in.) and the length (32.5 in.) stay the same, so measure the trunk or the closet with all three in mind.

How do I know the seat is the right size?

The seat is 20 in. wide and 16 in. deep. Measuring the person's hips across, seated, and their thigh length helps confirm it. A physical or occupational therapist can help choose a wheelchair for daily use.

Do the tires need air?

No. They are solid and flat-free, with nothing to inflate.

What is in the box?

The wheelchair and its two swing-away footrests.

How soon can I have it?
